I’m flying last 10 years with the handpan and i have lots of experience with it. Fact is, you can take your pan with you inside the plane in 95% cases without single problem or stress. Pan inside standart evatek fits into overhead compartment of the plane in most cases. With really small planes it doesn’t fit, but once you’re inside they will always help you to find a place for it. Make sure you do two things:

  1. When you check in put your pan aside and never show it to check in workers
  2. When you board a plane take your pan in your hand (make sure you never put it on the back), put your jacket on top of it and get inside without attracting any attention to it.

Remember, your goal is to get inside the cabin, and then cabin personnel will always find the place for it, even in a small planes. That works even with ryanair from my experience, so you good to go.  In case they ask you any questions show them those photos:
